Ego-Strengthening Using Hypnotic Principles (4 hours)
Live Online Course via Zoom – 4 CE hours for NYS Licensed Social Workers
This course is intended to educate and support people in health, mental health, and healing professions using ideas derived from hypnotic principles. Prior experience with hypnosis is not required.
In this course we will focus on techniques for promoting ego-strengthening, using tools derived from clinical hypnosis. The course will include both didactic presentation and demonstration. Introductory ideas about clinical hypnosis will be reviewed, and specific protocols for ego-strengthening will be presented conversationally/experientially.
Ego-strengthening is a method that is central to work in clinical hypnosis. As hypnotherapists, we facilitate the individual’s ability to increase confidence, self-esteem, self-reliance, the ability to cope, and to diminish anxiety.
Hypnotic techniques to achieve ego-strengthening include direct and indirect suggestion, metaphor, age regression and progression to positive experiences, symbolic imagery, affect regulation, and exploration. Participants in this course will learn the applications of these tools to clinical and healing work, without the utilization of formal hypnosis. The practice of clinical hypnosis will not be taught in this course. (4 NYS CE hours)
Postponed until in-person meetings can resume.
